JANET JACKSON

I can count on one hand all of the albums I like of Janet's. She's a great performer, not so much a dynamic singer. I have just started seeing this new "Feedback" video everywhere and decided to take a look.

It's got the usual Janet Jackson slick look; stylish and surreal. This is her "futuristic" flavor as she always has many incredible "themes" throughout her videos. I am definitely feeling this song and the video - so much so I've posted it here and decided to put my 2 cents worth in about how I like it. Ms. Jackson is rocking "Sexy and Steamy". I'm never amazed at how great celebs and singers look because they have the money to keep themselves looking fabulous. It's when they don't look like much that I get all shocked.

Wouldn't the average citizen keep themselves looking GO-OR-GEOUS if we could? Using top stylists, designers, and hairstylists to rock our image? Duh! That goes without saying. But I digress.

I like this song because I like visions of the future, not to mention the beat is off the hook. Although I do despise too much choreographed "group" dancing (which Janet uses all of the time), there wasn't a whole army of dancers and they were masked, which kind of made them blend in to the interior of the set. The dance number was short and unusual and the music is that "kind of funky" that makes you want to chair dance. Oh yea, I was doing the snake and booty wop all up in my seat. :0)

So my props to Miss J. She brought back a great dance song and she's working a new groove that will get her some great sales (assuming the rest of the album delivers).

MY FAKE....WHAT?

Sometimes you have to just wonder what makes people do the things they do. As a culture, we embrace all kinds of FAKE things which are usually cosmetic - fake hair, eyelashes, teeth. And then there's fake designer handbags, clothing and fake jewelry, etc.

But who in the heck thought that we would accept a fake baby to call our very own? I'm not talking about a baby doll to play with; leave outside on the porch and forget about it baby. I'm talking about a fake baby that looks and acts like a real baby.

Well, a young woman in England made up her mind that faking had not been taken to the ultimate level. She began creating fake babies, taking them everywhere she went so that people could be fooled into believing they were real, thus creating the perfect pitch to sell her product. And she is doing just that...selling fake babies.

Years ago I saw the HBO series on sex where there are people in the sex toy industry who create lifesized fake dolls for gentlemen. And we all know too well about other "fake" sex objects. But this fake baby business is something altogether different.

I watched the video yesterday and it was totally amazing. These babies cry, wet themselves and even fake breathing. BREATHING! Chest going up and own with eyes closed like it's sleeping. The reactions run the gamut of endearing to disgust, and cuddly to creepy. Most of the responses have been, "the people who are replacing these fake babies for real ones need help." Hello! I kind of have to agree since adoption is very much a viable choice. There's a woman who has 3 babies and admits she'll never have the 'reaction' she could get from a real life child....duh? But something has endeared her to buying 3 of them and you know they aren't cheap. Stepford babies indeed!

The women who buy then actually treat them gently as if they were newborns with fragile souls. The hair is real, and the skintones come in whatever real color you want. But it just seems unbelievable to me that a person can be satisfied and fulfilled with an eternal baby. Just read this snippet on the popular video being shown on the web. See it here. http://youtube.com/watch?v=w2TrrlvbkEA&feature=related.

"My Fake Baby explores the lives of women who spend hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of pounds on life-like baby dolls. Known as "reborns" some of the dolls have beating hearts, others have tiny veins and even milk spots. Loved like real babies, they're taken for walks, cuddled and even have their nappies (diapers) changed."

I say whatever floats your boat, but I had to put this out there just in case you didn't know. This is definitely our future people, and it looks like this.
